SAN DIEGO, California (October
2009) - The
Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa is
dedicated to protecting the environment and has earned the
Leadership Level status from the California Green Lodging
Program, which recognizes efforts by the California hospitality
industry to minimize waste, conserve energy and protect
natural resources.
"Because we are so close to the natural
beauty of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean,
we feel a special obligation to make a commitment to our
environment," said General Manager Mike Staples. "We're
very proud to be the ranked one of Mission Bay's resort
and spa to have earned this honor."
The California Green Lodging Program
was developed to steer "green travelers" to eco-friendly
hotels and resorts. The Catamaran earned the Leadership
Level status by keeping a written environmental policy and
by meeting all seven of the program's criteria: waste minimization,
reuse/recycling, energy efficiency, conservation and management,
waste management, freshwater resource management, hazardous
materials management, plus environmentally and socially
sensitive purchasing policies.
"The Catamaran sits on the sand
of Mission Bay, the view reminds us every day of our relationship
between the environment and our property," Staples
said. "Our guests stay with us to enjoy the soothing
Polynesian atmosphere, and our staff does everything we
can to maintain or improve our surroundings."
The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa's
dedication to support the wellness of the State of California
"We care about our impact on the environment, and with
this recognition we are keeping to the commitments to our
guests and our community," Staples said.
